New Artwork By Illustrator Carla Daly

Image
I am very busy at the moment between my online shop, selling Christening gifts and baby gifts - GIFTS4BABY.ie and creating new artwork for licensing. Which is harder between the two? I just don't know, what I do know that it is a lot of work to keep up both. Creating new art work for Art licensing is becoming a bigger part of my creative life, I am really enjoying it as I have been pushed into a creative flurry! I have to say, I probably needed it. My new agent sends art samples to show whats hot creatively at the moment. These images are great to have, always good to analyse what is selling and what is not. My latest new artwork for licensing are three animals I have never illustrated before - panda, fox and moose. O created them in Photoshop with a watercolour background. My moose artork is still unfinished and taken me a week to get to this stage. A very hard image to illustrate. Fox Artwork - Art For License Mr Fox artwork above was the quickest image to compl...

Art Licensing - Animals & Sprinkles

Image
Art Licensing - Animals & Sprinkles Art Licensing - Animals & Sprinkles by Carla Daly Creating animal art for kids is a big passion of mine. As you will see at my online shop selling gifts for babies - Gifts4Baby.ie . I have made a business out of animals! My big move recently is to start licensing art to the United States Of America, though I am not limiting myself there! The United States is obviously the biggest market. Giraffe, Lion, Zebra, Crocodile are a few of the animal images I have created. Trying not to set them in a traditional jungle background, I decided to add glasses and sprinkles to the images.  Licensing is a very interesting area to work in. I am trying to get my images more neutral. Maybe that's not the correct work but more mass appeal.  Kids images seem to have less colour in them and neutral colours are the fashion. My art is all about colour so not sure how this will work out!

Los Angeles Wall Art By Carla Daly

Image
Los Angeles Wall Art By Carla Daly I have recently completed two illustrations for Stupell industries. My brief was to create an image that reflects the LA lifestyle. It was a very specific brief as the client Home Goods, USA have a clear idea of what their customers want. These two images will be available in the Los Angeles, Home Goods stores.  Los Angeles Wall Art By Carla Daly I am really keen to license my art and have been working hard on creating new images. The United States is my focus as it is a massive outlet for my work. I have licensed five image to Home Goods and another 12 to Marmont Hill for their online shop. My two Los Angeles wall art prints have been to most interesting to complete. A slight step away from all my animal wall art, it got me think slightly differently about my artwork. I really enjoyed creating them and would love more work like this to come my way.  Los Angeles Wall Art Framed By Carla Daly You can see more of ...

Home Goods - Map Art

Image
Home Goods - Map Art Home Goods USA has licensed three of my map art. I had already illustrated California and New York and sell them as illustrated map wall prints online at Gifts4Baby.ie . They want a simpler version of these maps, in a more subdued colour range. After many weeks of work the art was completed and samples made. Stupell  industries created the samples. After another few weeks of waiting, I got the news, three maps images were selected. California to sell in Home Goods Californian shops. Texas and New York to sell in the Home Goods outlets in these states. The images were created on white and have been backed with a blue background and then framed in white. I really love them!  Above is a closer look at California, below is my original map of California, available from Gifts4Baby.ie.

Arctic Animal Illustrations

Image
Arctic Animal Illustrations Arctic Animal Illustrations by Irish children's illustrator Carla Daly I have been an a creative bender recently. Animals, animals and more animals. I have two possible outlets for my new art to license, both based in the United States Of America. As well as creating new map images, I am also creating a range of animal drawings.  The brief on these is very simple images and to use pastel colours. This takes a lot out of me as my images are usually very detailed with strong colours. When I started on the animal series I found it quite hard work but as I got into creating them, I really, really enjoyed it. These arctic animal illustrations had to be the most difficult, I really had to pare back on the use of colour.  I am hoping to add these to my personalised baby gifts category at Gifts4Baby.ie.   I want to create 3 more in the series, completing 6 arctic animals. I hope I can find 6 white arctic animals t...

The will also be available as personalised nursery art from my online shop Gifts4Baby.ie These images have really been created to art license in the States. My new agent Out Of The Blue art licensing agent is pushing me to create more art. I am really enjoying it and a push is what I needed. They hope to sell them into the nursery art print market in the United States. It took me quite a while to get into the swing of creating such simple line work, the more and more I got into it the more I am enjoying illustrating them. I have started with lion, elephant, zebra, giraffe and monkey and will add more jungle animals to this range. I also want to do farm animals and winter animals etc. All these jungle animals will be available in my Nursery Art categ...

Hee Hee, New Agent For Me!

Image
You will have read on my blog that I have toyed with the idea of getting an agent to license my work. Well, I have taken the plunge and have signed up with a London based illustration agency, Advocate-Art . They are a big agency and seem a very good, they represent some lovely artists. I am keen to have my art on different products and don't have the time to attend the licensing shows. I am hoping Advocate-Art will get to show my work to some product manufacturers at the licensing shows they attend. So I am crossing my fingers and will keep you posted on any interesting developments! Click here For my page at Advocate Art.

What's Happening At CarlaDaly.com!

Baby Keepsake Art Print Well, it has been a busy time for me at the moment. Sales are going very well, which keeps busy and I am painting some new art. I am having a sale on my Baby Keepsake Art and the sales are rocketing! As you know, I on and off think about licensing my art and periodically look for a licensing agent. Although I sell my art succesfully through my shop, I would love to see my work on other children's products that I don't produce, like, kids bedding, furniture, clothing etc. I dip in and out of this idea as I think it might be hard to find an agent who you can trust, and feel is out selling my work as eagerly as I sell my work! I don't really push my work through the media but a few weeks ago I was approached by Xfuns design magazine to do an interview. I was thrilled with the invitation and completed the interview last week. I will post it on my blog when I get a copy. That's it for the moment, I am off to paint now!

Holidays

Image
I have decided to take a break and am off to visit my husbands family in Transylvania. I just wanted to do a last post before I go with an update of my work. I am delighted to announce that I am licensing my work to the canvas reproduction company - Happy Spaces. They are launching a new online gallery for little people in July. You can go to their website and request to hear more about their launch. There will be 140 art pieces for children's walls for sale, not all mine I might add! Children's artists from all over the world will be represented. I can't wait to be selling my work with Happy Spaces, I think my images will look great on canvas (I hope!). Here is their link- Happy Spaces. Anyway, goodbye for now and I will leave you with an image of my husband and I on our holidays ;)

Above Alphabet Wall Stickers -10 x 10 cm (4"x 4") each sticker. I have written in my Blog about starting my online shop to sell my art for children . I started my enterprise by creating four nursery wall art prints. When I quickly started selling, I realized, to keep customers interested and coming back, I had to offer a wider range of children's wall art. One product I thought would be great as wall decor was wall stickers. I started with a wall sticker range of five animals, these were nice but a bit small in size. I always wanted to illustrate the alphabet using animals, so, I decided it would be a better to do ABC animal wall stickers. It took me a long time to complete my alphabet wall stiker range. All the animals are handpainted, scanned into the computer and the backgrounds and text are done in photoshop. Above my wall growth chart - 52" x 12 1/2"(132 x 32 cm) My animal alphabet has taken on a life on its own. I have created an alphabet wall growt...

Licensing My Art.

Image
I am licensing some of my work to a U.K. canvas print reproduction company called Happy Spaces. It has started me thinking about licensing my art. I really love producing and selling my own work but over the years I have thought about getting a licensing agent to sell my art internationally. Every artists dream! I love thinking of product to produce for my online shop and enjoy the limitations I have with the cost of production and postal sizes. I have to be very creative with what products to produce, cost is always a big issue and all products have to be small and lightweight for posting. All the products I produce are on paper or card, I would love to do work on fabric and ceramic, design bags and bedding, you name it and I would love to create art for it! I am starting by licensing my art on canvas, and shall see how well Happy Spaces sell my art, but I might start looking for that licensing company to reproduce my art onto all the products that I won't be able to get my cr...
